Join us for the Wayne County Community of Practice for Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists. This group will meet once in person and twice virtually throughout the year to connect, build a professional network, share resources, and engage in meaningful professional learning. Together, we will collaborate to enhance our practices and support the students and staff we serve.

This series will cover the newly available K-12 Data Literacy and Data Science Learning Progressions!This national, flexible framework is designed to help education leaders bring data literacy and data science into every student’s learning journey. Built with input from educators, researchers, and the public, these progressions set clear expectations for what students should learn from the earliest grades through graduation.-Create activities that weave Data Literacy into your current curriculum using a hands-on, collaborative approach.-Apply Data Literacy and Data Science principles across all grade levels and content areas.-Lunch and additional resources included.

This no-cost, live virtual event is designed to be a flexible series to support all districts with MICIP, the Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process. Teams are encouraged to register at any time during the duration of the offerings. This series offers participants the opportunity to build their understanding of MICIP. A tiered approach will be delivered to support districts at various stages of implementation. The format of the sessions will include facilitated work time and targeted support for all teams in attendance. Topics such as MTSS, Student Voice, Monitoring & Adjusting, Creating your Data Story or Needs Assessment Support will be embedded throughout the series. In addition, school or district teams can access implementation facilitators from Wayne RESA for personalized support. This workshop will provide an overview of the 2025-2026Data Collection transition requirements using the SPP Indicator B-13 federal reporting requirements. The most currentB-13 manual and checklist will be reviewed to ensure understanding and provide time for discussion.Additionally, participants will learn where to locate the evidence/documentation to support selected responses on the B-13 Checklist in order to demonstrate compliance with the federal reporting requirements.

For others who are interested in participating in SEED for the 24-25 school year, please register for 5473 Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity (County-Wide).SEED is a peer-led professional development program that creates conversational communities to drive personal, organizational, and society change toward greater equity and diversity.SEED’s unique methodology involves:Facilitating, ongoing, structured group conversations in which all voices can be heard.Examining how our own stories related to social systems.Learning from the lessons of our own lives as well as from texts.Turning oppressions and privilege into agency and action.SEED seminars help participants reflect upon and connect their individual experiences to the wider systemic context.Members of a SEED seminar gain new insights into how the world word and how they csan make their schools more inclusive and fairer.Participating in a SEED seminar affords you the opportunity to becomes a part of a conversational community where open, authentic dialogue supports our mutual learning about diversity. Regular attendance promotes trust and builds a strong community. Participants who register for the SEED Seminar are asked to commit to ALL sessions in the series.

As educators, it can be challenging to address the diverse needs of all students, including those who are neurodivergent or on the Autism spectrum. In this workshop, participants will gain an understanding of Autism, explore strategies to support various learning styles, and learn how to meet the needs of all students through universal supports such as differentiation, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), peer support, and more. Our goal is for participants to leave feeling empowered with a deeper understanding of how to effectively engage and support all learners.

This Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Foundation Training has proven effective in resolving violent situations. By participating in this program, participants will gain the skills and confidence necessary to handle crisis situations in schools with minimal anxiety and maximum security. This training will help participants intervene more safely when student behavior becomes dangerous without damaging any professional bond already established with students. Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be CPI certified for a one-year period. Following this initial 2-day foundation training, a formal refresher CPI training is recommended annually.Please Note: Successful completion of this course addresses multiple required training components for Key Identified Personnel as described in the Michigan State Board of Education's Policy for the Emergency Use of Seclusion and Restraint.

In alignment with this mission, MiFamily Network meeting dates have been intentionally coordinated with The Wayne County Student Attendance Work Committee. This strategic alignment allows MiFamily members to engage in both communities, fostering shared learning and deeper connections around family engagement and student attendance.Each session will include a catered lunch, providing an opportunity for members to network with peers and develop a collaborative support system shared alongside members of The Wayne County Student Attendance Work Committee.Please note: Enrollment in the Attendance Committee is not required to join the MiFamily Network. Wayne RESA’s Special Education New Teacher Academy will provide quality professional development experiences to enhance your professional growth and knowledge base with special education practices, issues, procedures, and forms.At the same time, it will help you meet the state-required hours of professional development you need to attain in your first three years of teaching.Participants must be first- and second-year teachers currently working in a Wayne County LEA/PSA special education classroom.

“Putting instructional reforms into practice is a process that requires a vision, support for change, leadership and collaboration among teachers [as they use resources to design learning experiences]” (Short & Hirsch, 2023) Join us as we embark on a new model for secondary math leadership in which we invite teachers, department leads, or coaches to bring their secondary math curricular resources as we engage in mathematical reasoning together, plan for your upcoming units, and practice our teaching moves collectively.As we collaborate, we will learn about motivation, engagement, scaffolds, differentiation, formative assessment, and feedback.Take away resources to replicate the learning and planning with teams of teachers in your school or district.

This Special Education PD is intended for special education staff (i.e., coordinators, teacher consultants, ancillary staff, special education teachers) who are responsible for the compliant development and delivery of special education programming and services per IDEA and MARSE. There is a lot to know in the field of special education! If you have ever wondered where to start or need clarity on the ins and outs of special education, we are here to help!Topics will include:• Policies, procedures and general guidance,• The components and development of an IEP,• Planning, delivery of specially designed instruction, organizational methods and time management, and progress monitoring, and• Documenting the delivery of special education programming/services and supplementary services.This training will be held in person over 2 full days with lunch provided. Must attend both sessions to receive credit.
